Safe work environment The Director of Nursing shall be responsible to the Skilled Nursing Facility Administrator and have administrative authority, responsibility and accountability for the nursing services within the facility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
Other duties may be assigned.
Plans, coordinates, implements, manages, and evaluates nursing services in accordance with federal, state, industry, and facility goals, objectives and regulations to enhance the quality, continuity and individualization of resident care.
Responsible for recruiting and hiring nursing staff.
Assumes and/or delegates appropriate supervision of nursing staff.
Maintains sufficient staffing to meet residents' needs and regulatory requirements.
Completes annual job performance appraisals including competencies (skills check & written).
Facilitates the developing, implementing and evaluating of nursing services policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines governing the highest standards of nursing service.
Maintains positive communication and work relations with Medical Director, physicians, facility staff, residents and family members.
Acts as an advocate to promote comprehensive health care and long-term care services.
Assumes responsibility for knowledge of community healthcare resources and utilizes same to meet the total needs of residents within the facility.
Responsible to work within the approved budget for nursing services.
Education and/or Experience The RN should have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a Skilled Nursing environment.
Director of Nursing must possess the ability to lead and instruct others; exhibit excellent organizational skills and interpersonal skills; and possess problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
